Eastern Connecticut – May 28, 2008 – In an effort to provide chamber members with better access to affordable health care, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and Chamber Insurance Trust (CIT) are pleased to announce the opening of the Eastern Connecticut Benefit Center, an in-house insurance benefit center located at the chamber office, 39 Kings Highway, Gales Ferry. The first of its kind in the state, the center, administered by CIT and coordinated through its carriers ConnectiCare, Aetna and HealthNet, will allow members to speak directly with on-site chamber member insurance agents that will assist them with their insurance needs and questions. Nearly 100 of the chamber’s member companies have purchased their health insurance through CIT, giving over 250 employees insurance coverage they may not have had otherwise.“We are very pleased to be able to host a benefit center at the chamber office” said Tony Sheridan, president, Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut. “Chamber surveys indicate that employee benefits, particularly medical insurance, represent one of the most difficult challenges for the small business community. The chamber has established this benefit center to assist the business community and its employees with their medical benefit interests.” The center will provide information on chamber exclusive insurance plans available for individuals, groups and the Medicare eligible. To talk to an agent or schedule an appointment, call the chamber office at 860-464-7373. For more information, visit www.chamberECT.com/benefitcenter.htm.
