Confronting the Rising Cost of Healthcare: Free Pharmacy Discount Card For Chamber Members

Orange, CT – September 1, 2010 – The Connecticut Chambers of Commerce, administered by Chamber Insurance Trust, will offer Chamber Member employers and employees, as well as their families, a free discount pharmacy card good at any Walmart or Sam’s Club pharmacy.  The program is administered by The Macaluso Group.

“This is a break for the thousands of chamber member businesses, as well as their employers and families to help confront the rising cost of health care,” says Stephen Glick, President of Chamber Insurance Trust.  The discounted prices apply to people that do not have prescription drug insurance coverage or who take a prescription drug that is not covered by their insurance plan.

Members, including employees and their families, can simply go to http://www.chamber-rx.com, fill out their personal information and print a paper card all online. Free. The member then presents his or her card to the Pharmacist at their local Walmart or Sam’s Club with the prescription. According to The Macaluso Group, the drug prices have been averaging between 20%-30% lower than competitive prices at any other pharmacy location.

John Leone, President of the Chamber Leadership Cabinet states, “The commitment from one of country’s largest companies, Walmart, to provide the lowest cost for prescriptions to chamber members is one more step in reducing healthcare costs for our thousands of members.” He goes on to say, “This is a free benefit that employers can offer to their employees, including those companies that do not have a health insurance plan.”
