The Truth About Long Term Care.

Long term care doesn't have to mean a nursing home. You can get many long term care services at home, through community - based services, or in a variety of assisted living settings.

Medicare and most medical insurance plans cover very little of the long term care costs, and then only for a limited time, under very stringent conditions. They don't cover most of the basic help with activities of daily living - eating, bathing, dressing, and so on - that may be all you need to continue living in your own home.

Eventually, most people who need long term care exhaust their assets. At that point, they apply to Medicaid to help pay for their care - but it usually requires moving to a nursing home.

Long term care insurance keeps you independent. It's also highly affordable - and may even qualify you for federally approved tax incentives!
